Are You Ready to Defend Your Hope in Christ?
“but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,” 1 Peter 3:15 ESV
“Always be Prepared”
On my first attempt to go door to door and meet people and invite them to attend church, I had the opportunity to work with a group of 4 high school students from out of town. We spent a couple of hours practicing the questions we would ask and how we could respond to questions when we were asked.
One of the first questions we were supposed to ask after introducing ourselves was, “What is your favorite Bible story?” if the answer came back to us as question, we wanted to have a story ready to share of our own.
“Gentleness and Respect”
We knocked on doors with the kind of gentleness and respect that reminded me of bringing cookies to a new neighbor. We wanted to invite them to take a moment out of their Saturday afternoon and think about God’s Word, “What is your favorite Bible story?”
“Share a Reason for the Hope that is in you.”
