Be Fruitful
St. Paul wrote to the Galatians, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things here is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, we must also follow the Spirit. We must not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one and another.” Galatians 5:22–26 HCSB. https://www.bible.com/72/gal.5.22-26hcsb.
I should have titled this meditation, Enjoy the Fruit. That is what St. Paul is encouraging the Galatians to do.
Let’s look at these fruits a little closer.
Love
Love makes everything sweeter.
What do you imagine when you say or think the word love?
- Spouse?
- Mother?
- Father?
- Children?
- Grandchildren?
- Friends?
- Pets?
How do you feel when you say the word love?
- Better?
- Lighter?
- Tingley?
What actions or reactions do you have when you say the word Love?
- Smile?
- Raised eyebrows?
- Sit up a little straighter?
- Hold head up a little higher?
- Heart beats a little faster?
What would you add to this list?
My friend, Kamal Ravikant in his book Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It, shares this vow:
“This day, I vow to myself to love myself, to treat myself as someone I love truly and deeply — in my thought, my actions, the choices I make, the experiences I have, each moment I am conscious, I make the decision I LOVE MYSELF.”
Next time I will explore how joy is a delicious fruit to partake. ..
Until next time. ..
Grace, mercy, peace and prosperity to you and your house from God, our Father, and from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. May the Holy Spirit open our eyes, ears and heart to see God’s purpose for us today and every day.
May the peace which surpasses all understanding keep our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Please take a moment to hit reply. Say Amen or hello. Or add a comment. What did you like? What could I change?
If you have a prayer requestor concern include that also. I will add it to myprayers.
Thanks, Love. Tom
