Commitment Tames Fear
“in God I trust and am not afraid. What can man do to me?” Psalm 56:11 NIV https://www.bible.com/bible/111/psa.56.11.niv
Today I am grateful to God for commitment.
The calf is failing. She won’t get up. Her mouth is cold which means she hasn’t nursed in a while.
My daughter-in-law and I decided to take get her and her mother to the barn. The commitment is made.
We load the calf in the back of the SUV where the heat is on high. The warming process begins. Now to herd the mom to the barn. This is not as easy as putting the calf in the back of the SUV.
It’s a beautiful spring day here on the farm. The temperature was almost comfortable with a coat. The mud was a perfect consistency to bog down most vehicles.
I abandoned my SUV to herd the cow to the barn by walking behind her with Stacey guiding from her SUV. The mud is sticky and neither the cow nor I am in the mood to waste many steps. But the cow feels uncomfortable about leaving her calf behind and wants to return back to that spot. She makes it back to that spot. She makes it back there several times.
But Stacey and I are committed, we made the decision that the cow was going to the barn. There was no giving up. Not today.
