Love this line. Verbal abuse among laborers is often a sign of affection.
When I finished concrete for a living my leader often reflected that I worked “like old people f@@@” . I would just shrug my shoulders and move on.
At home these remarks are hurtful and painful to endure.
My father in law was a master of praise and support. He would pull you out of the manure pile of bad thoughts and bad feelings and make you feel like you had just won the Boston Marathon.
