O God, It Is Just Not Fair

It just doesn’t seem fair for God to hold us responsible for Adam’s sin.

Is it fair that you have a DELETE Key on your computer keyboard?

Is it fair that you have a trashcan full of rough drafts and rewrites?

Is it fair that only Noah and his family and a pair of each animal were saved from the flood?

Is it fair that Sodom and Gomorrah and Lot’s wife were destroyed?

Is it fair that God asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac?

Is it fair that Jesus was put to death for your sins and my sins?

God promised Adam and Eve perfect, not just fair. Perfect. Not even slightly damaged. Perfection. VERY GOOD.

All Adam and Eve had to do was keep one rule, “Do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” Genesis 3:5. Easy? Right? One rule and everything would be PERFECT. They would walk naked through the Garden of Eden in the cool of the day admiring the perfection of God’s creation, with God the Creator. Just keep one simple rule. Easy? Right?

Now, just imagine, you are sitting at your computer, creating a perfect world and everything is going just wonderfully, and then…

You hit the wrong key, what do you do? Hit delete, throw your draft into the trash, flush your world down the…
