Resilience
“For we live by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV
Today I am grateful to God for resilience.
I joined Stacey and we watched. It was one of those rare moments for me to just be still and observe. To not be charging off to fulfill the next objective. This opportunity was a blessing.
The mother had just given birth to a set of twin calves, another blessing. We watched because of our experience with momma cows and twins. Most of the time the mom will take the stronger calf and abandon the weaker. Most of the time.
This phenomenon is because twin calves occur in our herd about one in twenty-one births. The mom’s don’t realize they should have two babies.
This birth of twins was a blessing because another mom’s calf was born in an ice and mud hole and died there. So there is a mom in the barn seeking to adopt a baby.
This ends my animal husbandry dissertation.
We watched. Waiting for the mom to choose her baby. We would take the one she didn’t want and attempt to get the cow in the barn to adopt it.
What does any of this have to do with resilience? As we watched the calves would try to stand up and fall down…
