So I will share this quick story. I don’t know if it will ease your mind or answer your question? But I have been dying to tell it so here goes.
John heard the evacuation notice on the radio. Hurricane Mizz Blow hard was eminent and all inhabitants were ordered to leave the island because no extra efforts were going to be offered to help those who stayed behind.
John thought “God will help me.”
Then the fire trucks and ambulances made one last trip around the island to make sure everyone left before the storm. The firemen begged John to crawl into the ambulance and ride to safety. John replied, “God will help me.”
I wasn’t long before the storm hit the winds blew and the water got deeper. A coast guard boat came by and demanded that John get on. But John declared, “God will help me.”
The eye of the storm provided a momentary calm. John’s home was flooded. John crawled up on the roof and a helicopter came to rescue him. And once again, John denied rescue yelling over the sound of the helicopter, “God will help me.”
Moments later, Mizz Blowhard resumed and John was washed out to sea and drowned.
As he met St. Peter at the gates to Heaven, John asked, “Why didn’t God come to help me?” To which St. Peter replied, “God spoke on the radio, sent firemen and paramedics, sent a Coast Guard boat, even risked the lives of helicopter pilots. How much help do you expect? Welcome to Heaven.”
