What Does It Feel Like To Be A TRUE Friend?

“Friends come and friends go, but a true friend sticks by you like family.” Proverbs18:24MSG

It has been a long, long time since I have thought about friends and what it means to be a friend.

Most of my friendships ended when I entered into marriage. I am lucky to have married my best friend. And as I think about it now my only earthly friend for the last 40 years.

So what does it take to be a true friend.

Devotion. A true friend is devoted to keeping the friendship alive. I don’t know about you, but I am lousy at keeping in touch with people who were my friends in the past. You would think that my portable cellular phone only received calls.

I am not afraid of anything, but you would think that my phone keyboard has razor blades on the numbers preventing me from dialing a long neglected friends phone number.

Determination. For those times when your keypad has become razor blades. Sometimes you have to go find the leather gloves or the CT pliers I carry on my belt to push on the numbers instead of using bare fingers.

You are much better at being determined to stay connected to your friends than I am, I am sure of it.
