‘The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs — heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. ‘ Romans 8:16–17 ESV

Inheritance does not seem to mean much in the USA. We prefer to believe in pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps and achieving our best life through our own best efforts.

Being born into the right lineage or having the right last name doesn’t seem to have that much bearing on who we will be when we grow up.

Or does it????

When God created our first parents, Adam and Eve, and placed them in the Garden of Eden He created them to be His children, to be His companions. He liked being able to be in the garden with them in the cool of the day, He looked forward to spending time with them. Everything was very good.

And He only had one rule, don’t eat from the trees of the knowledge of good and evil, but the punishment for breaking this rule would be to lose this perfect life, they would die.
