You Can Do Better…

How often have we had a friend or acquaintance or may even someone we hardly know tell us about a life challenge they are facing?

They take the time to tell us of their maladies and obstacles, and we graciously listen to them tell their stories. Sometimes we even cry or laugh with them. And as we part, we usually say something like, “I will keep you in my thoughts?”

But you can do better…

As Christians, we are blessed with a direct line to the One, who can and will help. All we have to do is ask. I am confident you remember this verse:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7 ESV

Or…

“Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24 ESV

These are Jesus’ words to us. When we or someone we love is struggling, we can ask Him for help, and help will arrive. Is it always the type of help we expect or want? — That is another topic for another article, but for now, let us remember that we can ask and have faith that the answer is in God’s hands.

And that is how we can do better…

We can take our problems and concerns and the struggles of loved ones and neighbors to the Lord, and He has promised to help. This is how we do better. It is through the fullness of God.

Yes, we can do better…

We do better with the help of God, and our efforts are done for His glory.

So, Until next time… I will leave you with these words from St. Paul to the Ephesians:

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
